The Moving Hearts

front_心_animation.gif

During the exhibition, while the audience were invited to use the writing robot to write the character ‘heart’, the artist also collected hundreds of calligraphic writings of the same character. By scanning the QR code at the exhibition space, countless number of ‘hearts’ were shown in the virtual exhibition space online in the format of moving images looping. Two to three hundred pieces of calligraphy were shown in three seconds, and the characters appeared to be all over the place on the screen. Each piece of writing, however, reflected the different sentiments of the writer, and behind the different rhythms of the act, the same tracks of writing were followed. Participants put down their hearts in a writing environment that was not totally under their control. The operations between controllability and uncontrollability, and the unique writing experience took them on a journey that was philosophically and culturally meaningful.
