Idea - Why ‘heart’

cursor_sign.png

If artistic master Robert Indiana wanted to use the simplified version of the Chinese character ‘love’ to send his blessings to the world, artist Hung Keung is returning the favor with the character ‘heart’. Ancient Chinese characters shared the same strain as its culture, and both are extensive and profound. Each orthodox Chinese character incorporates the traditional Chinese philosophy, ethics and the elements of heaven, earth and men. It is the carrier of the spirits and values of the Chinese culture. The emergence of simplified characters in modern times has brought changes to the meanings of Chinese characters, leading to the loss in substance. Each character is a life entity, with every stroke carrying rich substance. From the strokes of the characters, we are able to gain insight into the social situation, economic activities and cultural developments at the time when the character was created. The analysis of Chinese characters is like entering a historical museum.
