The 3rd version: Control Freak

Hung Keung and Dr Andreas Schiffler decided to add a tailor-made remote controller to the top end of the brush. When the brush was moving from side to side, by adjusting the controller, the calligrapher/ participant could control the range of movement of the brush and experience the different rhythms involved in the three stages of writing: beginning, wielding and finishing. Another version was also created by Dr Andreas Schiffler. A stainless steel spring was used as contact point with the brush. A wooden handle was installed at the top end of the spring. The calligrapher/ participant could exert different levels of pressure to create vertical strength in holding the brush. The initial results were surprisingly satisfactory, and a new direction of writing was gradually emerging. The research team had yet another obstacle to overcome, and it was the key to control the brush at will in all directions.
